Driving Las Vegas Grand Canyon Adventure

In driving Las Vegas Grand Canyon, it is important to know that it is only 150 miles by car. However, this short hour and a half drive will take you to the West Rim of the Grand Canyon only. In order to reach the more populated points at the North or South Rim, you will have to drive a wee bit further, at approximately 250-300 miles. But when you consider all that there is to do, it is worth a ride away from the casino lifestyle.

Traveling by car is not the only way to see this beautiful site. There are several tour companies that offer great deals for driving Las Vegas Grand Canyon. One fabulous adventure is a bus that will take you to from Nevada’s casino Mecca to the Hualapai Reservation, which is located to the west of the Grand Canyon. From this point, you can sign up for an exciting whitewater rafting tour, complete with helicopter ride back to the rim. The Hualapai reservation is also the location of the Grand Canyon Skywalk. This glass-bottomed bridge juts out from the rim of the canyon and suspends you 4000' above the canyon floor.

A road trip is such an exciting experience, and part of the fun will be going off the beaten path. If you decide to head to the West Rim, you will travel on US 93 toward Kingman, AZ. From that point, you will take the Dolan Springs exit, to the Pearce Ferry Road, turning at the Grand Canyon West exit sign. Then you will feel like a real cowboy (or girl) as you ride on an unpaved road for about fourteen miles to your destination, the Grand Canyon.

For driving Las Vegas Grand Canyon South Rim, take Highway 93 South out of Vegas for about 75 miles to Interstate 40 and head East. At Williams, you'll head north on 64 to Grand Canyon Village and all that the South Rim has to offer.

When driving Las Vegas Grand Canyon North Rim, take Interstate 15 North toward St. George, Utah. Go about 20 miles north of St. George, then go east on 9. Continue east through Zion National Park (a bonus!) and beyond, where 9 turns into 89, going south towards Kanab Utah. At Kanab, take 89 Alternate south, which goes through Fredonia, then on to the Grand Canyon National Park North Rim entrance. Driving this route, you can also visit Bryce Canyon and Cedar Breaks with minor alterations.

So, once you head to Las Vegas to gamble your money away and see a wide variety of circus shows, get in touch with nature at one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It should prove quite soothing and invigorating.
